Grade 5 Pipe Band Tenor Drumming - Fall/Winter 2024

This is a follow-up class to the successful 12 week beginner program that I piloted in Fall 2023.

This class will run from November 2024 to February 2025 (12 lessons).

A second term will begin in February 2025.

Pre-requisites: my 12-week intro to tenor drumming course OR parade band experience OR some basic tenor drumming experience

Equipment: Tenor Sticks (fluffy) or Practice Mallets, a drum pad or hard surface to practice on. (Optional but recommended: a tenor sling or harness and access to a pipe band tenor drum.)

Students who have purchased this course will be given access to a dedicated google classroom for this program. Each week, there will be new lecture video uploaded, as well as a pdf exercise sheets and a weekly homework assignment (upload a video of yourself doing the homework and I will provide feedback).

Students can ask questions in the classroom and discuss with me and the other students, and you can sign up for office hours with if you have questions or would like some live support. Fall 2024 office hours will be on Tuesdays (an AM and an evening time will be offered each week). If you would like to request alternate office hours options, I am willing to consider requests. I also will communicate with my students via homework comments.

Options for equipment purchase: Ty Fry, Custom Drum Sound, Scott Currie Music, Jim Kilpatrick Percussion, and Drumline NZ.

Technology access required: Google Classroom access, Email, a pdf reader, the ability to watch video lesson content, Zoom (free) for office hours, and the ability to record yourself playing (a phone on selfie mode works fine for this!) so you can send me your homework!
